In response to the Covid-19 pandamic, Govert designed of the Lean On Me traffic light button. It is a huge button designed to trigger a traffic light when people lean to it. For the city of Eindhoven ,Govert conducted a research in 2020 on how people interact with traffic light buttons in comparison to the Lean On Me button.

Did the corona pandemic change people behavior operating public buttons with the elbow instead? The Lean On Me button derived from the research on Neo Hygiene

SHOULDER BUTTON




During a pandemic, a hand-touch traffic light button is used by 43% of the people with hand palms. This shows that the majority of people do not want to touch buttons in public spaces. When buttons are designed as leaning buttons for elbows and shoulders, only 7% keeps interacting with them using their hands.
